Soprano Suzanne Galer-Wert has taught voice and piano at colleges and preparatory schools to include Indiana University, State University of New York, Dwight School (NYC), Palm Beach Atlantic University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Sam Houston State University, Guilford College (NC), and Palm Beach State College. She has directed Bel Canto Studios since 2000 in Michigan, Alabama, and Palm Beach. She has worked for Palm Beach Atlantic Preparatory School, Ars Nova (AL) and Valley Conservatory (AL) . Galer is the Vice President of Gold Coast National Association of Teachers of Singing (a merger of South Florida and Intra-coastal NATS). Suzanne Galer arrived in Palm Beach in 2012 and is teaching at Palm Beach State College. She holds the DMA and MM in Vocal Performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with additional graduate study at Indiana University at Bloomington.
A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Suzanne made her debuts at Carnegie Recital Hall and Columbia Artists Hall as the first-place winner of the New York Vocal Artists. Her operatic credits include Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte with the Rome Festival (Italy), Sorg Opera (OH), Whitewater Opera (IN), and Bloomington Opera Theatre (IN). Suzanne sang the role of Dew Fairy in Indianapolis Opera’s Hansel and Gretel, and Orfeo in the world premiere of the Luigi Rossi Orfeo with the Bloomington Early Music Ensemble. Additional opera credits include Anina in La Traviata with Long Island Lyric Opera (NY) and again with Opera Company of the Hamptons (NY). Galer performed Naiad in Ariadne auf Naxos with the Shreveport Opera (LA), Governess in Turn of the Screw with Inspiration Point (AK), and First Friend in Baby Doe with Ars Nova (AL). She was a Metropolitan Opera regional finalist and a Chicago Lyric Opera national finalist. Oratorio credits include Carmina Burana with the Lake Charles Symphony (LA) and King David with the Midland-Odessa Symphony (TX). Cross-over Credits include Glinda in the Wizard of Oz with North Carolina Theatre (NC), and the Ramsdell Theatre (MI). Galer has performed Madame Von Starr in Musical of Musicals Anna in The King and I (MI), Gladys in The Pajama Game(MI), and has recorded numerous historical musicals with The Comic Opera Guild of Ann Arbor (MI).
Suzanne is an active performer, passing a love of performing to her students. Currently she sings with the I Musichi Chamber Artists directed by Joseph Ierardi and she works as pianist and choral directed at First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton West Campus. Since arriving in Palm Beach in 2012 , Suzanne has performed The Lord Nelson Mass with Dr. Geoffrey Holland at Bethesda by the Sea Chapel, Early Music with Dr. Michael O'Conner at DeSantis Chapel, The Fauré Requiem with Dr. Jack Jones at Royal Poinciana Chapel, New Year’s Pops with the Indian River Orchestra, a Palm Beach Atlantic University Faculty Chamber Music Recital, and a Distinguished Artist Concert at Palm Beach Atlantic. In April 2014, Suzanne performed Carmina Burana with The Robert Sharon Chorale. She also performed "The Golden Age of Broadway" at Royal Ponciana Chapel in Palm Beach and John Knox in Pompano Beach. In 2015 Galer performed several concerts with Opera Fusion, a newly established Florida Opera Company. Also in 2015 Suzanne performed with Choral Society of the Palm Beaches in chamber works by Ravel, Saint-Saens, and Mozart.
She resides in West Palm Beach with her husband, Brian Wert.
