Bel Canto Studios features students from all schools in Palm Beach County and online students nationwide. We especially enjoy working with talented students from Saint Ann's , Bak, Oxbridge, Dreyfoos, and Benjamin. Our students go on to win scholarships and even full rides to University of Miami, Indiana University, Oberlin Conservatory, University of Central Florida, Florida State, Florida International, Manhattan School of Music, New York University, and many more.
How can I win my Bak and Dreyfoos School of the Arts Auditions?
Bak and Dreyfoos Schools of the Arts provide students with creative opportunities in the areas of Communication Arts, Dance, Band, Piano/Keyboard, Orchestral Strings, Vocal, Theatre and Visual Arts. The curriculums of both schools enable students to achieve high standards of both artistic and academic excellence.
Students must submit an application to the Palm Beach County School District’s Department of Choice Programs https://mypbchoiceapp.com/ in order to be eligible for admission. Students must successfully audition for one of the school’s art programs such as musical theater or voice.
Auditions application deadlines are December 1. Auditions take place in January and February.
Win Your Bak School of the Arts Audition - here are the rules, Dr. Galer prepares you:
Students will complete the following tasks at an audition:
- Perform a memorized solo. This is normally an English folksong with CD accompaniment.Students will be judged on ability to vocalize and match five tones.Students must demonstrate solo pitch and rhythmic accuracy, tone quality, expressiveness and musical effect.

Students must perform a prepared solo – Evaluation will be based on Pitch and rhythmic accuracy, intonation, technique, tone quality, musical effect, diction, and expressiveness. A pre-recorded background or track is required for the solo.
Students will also be evaluated on aural memory by singing the familiar song “Happy Birthday” and a series of notes on the piano.
Students will also be asked to sight-read and participate in an interview.
